Daytona Beach Events

Each year, millions of visitors make their way to Daytona Beach and the surrounding area for fun, sun, surf and one-of-a-kind experiences. We have a long history of hosting big events - most notably, the world class Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. The Speedway also hosts races such as the Coke Zero 400, Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Daytona 200, a motorcycle endurance competition.
If you prefer the sound of music rather than the revving of an engine, then check out one or all of the area's annual music events. The Daytona Blues Festival, held at Jackie Robinson Ball Park, is a popular three-day festival featuring up-and-coming, as well as nationally known blues artists and the Daytona Beach Oceanfront Bandshell hosts a free summer concert series. There's also the Turkey Run, Greek Festival, Halifax Art Festival and Daytona Beach Film Festival presented by Cinematique of Daytona. Browse through our events calendar to help plan your one-of-a-kind Daytona Beach vacation.

Leaving Daytona Beach

This is my last week living in Daytona Beach. I've been very busy and haven't had time to write about the events going on here. Like in October we had the Dream Cruisers come through, then again we had all those beautiful hot rods come through for Turkey Rod, in which they are starting a Turkey Rod in the spring of 2012, how exciting. Adults are $10, and kids under 11 years of age are free. I may be going back to Orlando, but I still plan on coming to Daytona Beach every chance I get. I remember coming here since I was three years old. I will always have Daytona Beach in my heart as a home away from home. I'm leaving a bunch of dear friends behind, but I will be back to visit. Daytona Beach.....I love you.....Orlando......here I come!

Here We Are Again

Once again, the end of January in Daytona Beach means we are kicking back into season. We have races coming up, a little one this weekend, then the big one in February. Bikeweek will be here at the end of February. We have Spring Break after Bikeweek. Thank you God time is moving faster. The slow season around here is miserable. What is with the weather? I would say this is one of the weirdest winters we've had in a long time. It's hot it's cold, let's go lay out in the sun during the day, put on your winter coat on at night, lol, gotta love Florida weather. I remember as a child, I couldn't go out and play because it was raining. I said, "grandma, it isn't raining across the street at Ms. Byers house." She looked outside and started laughing, I love and miss my grandma.

Well, ran into a little snag with the online trading. When my friend did his withdraw, it said the process would take 30 days. After 30 days went by and he didn't get his money, he contacted the company. They said there is a one time $150 tax fee to pay. So now we are waiting for him to get his tax return to pay the fee, then we will see if he gets his withdraw. As soon as that happens, I will be getting the information out to everyone interested in making money online. Yee - Haw!

It's Almost Here!

Well, it's Biketoberfest again. The next thing is Turkey Rod again. I love it! Harley Davidson's and Hot Rods. What's that sound that Tim the tool man Taylor makes? aaahhhh...ahh..aaahhh. lol. My job has a pumpkin carving contest every year, never won, but it's really fun. We carve the pumpkins and let our guest at the restaurant be the judges. Come to find out, while I was searching for pumpkin stencils, the origin of pumpkin carving came from the Irish. Many years ago a farmer died, they believed his spirit walked the earth in purgatory, so they carved turnips to scare away his spirit and other wayward spirits. The pumpkin came when they migrated to North America. I thought that was pretty cool, mainly because I'm Irish, and it's kinda cool to have a tradition from my heritage/culture. We also have a desert contest at Christmas time, that I have won, grandma's apple pie. I like this time of year because I get to cook, and watch people enjoy themselves, when they taste my good cooking, lol. Don't want to toot my own horn, but when your good....your good. So, I am enthusiastic about this holiday season, and I hope that everyone enjoys it. Just remember, a gift from the heart is better than any gift from the store. I am going to have joy this year no matter what is happening in this economy, we can't let negative situations rob us of our joy. We do have a choice, I choose happiness.
